Virginia Dobbins Herrle passed away Friday evening, November 3, 1995, at her home. She was born in Buena Vista on July 21, 1920, to Grover and Maude Dobbins, northern Chaffee County pioneers. Virginia graduated from Buena Vista High School in 1937, and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Colorado University in 1941, with a degree in Political Science.

In 1942, Virginia married Charles Herrle of Brooklyn, New York. They settled in Buena Vista after numerous stateside military assignments during World War II.

Together, Virginia and Charles owned and operated an insurance agency and real estate office until 1977. She was very active in local democratic politics and community organizations over the years. She felt that one of her most important community contributions was helping establish the first clinic in Buena Vista.

She is survived by her sister of Denver, Her son and family of Colorado Springs, her daughter of Kodiak, Alaska; and granddaughter of Oakland Hills, California. Also are a step-son and family.

A memorial service will be held Friday, November 10, 1995 at Oak Street Chapel at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations be made to either the Buena Vista Mt. Olivet Cemetery Association or the Buena Vista Heritage Museum.
