Aaron Barber
The funeral of Aaron Barber of Avon, who died Saturday morning was held yesterday at the home with the Rev. M.D. MacLeod of the Central Presbyterian Church, of Avon, officiating. Aaron F. Williams, president of the First National Bank and Trust Company of this city his sister Miss Lois Williams of 121 East First street, and niece of Mr.Barber, are in Avon where they went to attend the funeral.
Mr.Barber's name is closely interwoven with the history of Avon. Although not until recent years a recent of the village, he had always showed a great interest in its affairs. He had a reputation of being the most progressive type of farmer and banker and at the time of his death was president of the State Bank of Avon. It is said that he amassed a fortune of approximately a half a million dollars.
About two years ago he purchased the Boorman property in Geneseo street, Avon, which is now the home of the Avon Free Library. It is understood that this property will now go to the Library.
Mr.Barber is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Mary J. Jenks of Avon and Mrs. Amanda Williams of 121 East First Street, and several nephews and nieces including Aaron F. and Lois Williams of 121 East First street.
Interment was in the family lot in Avon cemetery.
