The Stone Sloops of Chebeague, 1976 reprint, page 56,
Chebeague's Toll of the Sea:

1850's CAPTAIN JOHN ROSS, and his two sons JOHN JR., WALTER. they were wrecked on Graves Ledge off Boston in midwinter. Clinging to the masts, frozen, they died before reaching the hospital.

Further research corrects the date to 1834.

Several different stories related to this tragedy. Stone Sloops lists John and his two sons John and Walter. Donna Miller Damon on pages 11-13 of Spring issue 2014 of the Sloop's Log gives John, his two sons John, Jr. and Ammi, and a Mr. Rand.

In another tragedy in the winter sea, ocean spray froze on the masts and decks of a Chebeague stone sloop outside of Boston Harbor. Tons of ice weighed her down till she became helpless in the breaking, freezing seas. Capt. John Ross and his two sons, John and Walter were found aboard, frozen to death, encased in ice on the rigging. Boston death record only for son John, age 17, frozen, carried to Portland for burial.
