Troy, IL--Funeral services were held here Friday, July 24, for Daniel Weir, 71, who died July 20 at his home, 2139 West Wolf street in Phoenix, Ariz. The Rev. William H. Sill of the Collinsville Presbyterian church officiated. Interment was in Friedens cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bill Schmitt, Bill Fox, Jack Schmitt, Bud Kamm, Dick Howe and Bill Mathias.
Son of the late James and Sarah Ann Troughear Weir, the deceased was born July 31, 1887 in Boone, Ia. On June 30, 1923 he was married to Miss Ethel Whittle in Collinsville. They lived in Collinsville and later in Troy where he worked in the coal mine. About seven years ago they moved to Arizona.
He is survived by his wife; one son, Jack of Troy; two granddaughters; two sisters, Pearl Nicholson of Kankanna, Wis., and Margaret Peyne of Boone, Ia.; and one brother, Eugene Weir of Santa Anna, Calif.
Mr. Weir was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian church in Phoenix, a former member of the Troy Presbyterian church, and also a member of Local 382 of Troy.
