John C. Null, 89, of Hanover, entered into God's eternal care, Monday, July 21, 2014 at the Gettysburg Hospital.

Born July 16, 1925 in Hanover, he was the son of the late Clinton A. and Bessie (Baumgardner) Null. John was the loving husband of the late Bernice G. (Small) Null, who died June 9, 2007.

John was a heavy equipment operator and retired with over 20 years of service for J. A. Myers.

Mr. Null was a veteran of the United States Navy having served his country proudly during World War II as a signalman 2nd class, where he was awarded the European Theater Ribbon with one Star, Pacific Theater Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon, Victory Medal, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon and the Good Conduct Medal.

John was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Hanover, the Harold H. Bair, Post 14 American Legion in Hanover, the Hanover V.F.W. Post 2506, the McSherrystown Fish & Game Association, the McSherrystown Home Association, a dedicated volunteer with the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard Burial Detail; and a former member of the Hanover Lancers.

John is survived by one son, Ronald M. Null of Hanover; two grandchildren, Mandy L. McMaster and Boomer T. Smith both of Hanover; and one great-granddaughter, Claire B. McMaster. He was preceded in death by eight siblings.

A funeral service to celebrate and remember John's life will be held 11 a.m., Friday, July 25, 2014 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, with Rev. Brenda Marin officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover, with the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard Burial Detail will afford Military Honors.
