Berdie Schwede, 72, longtime resident of the rural Donnybrook area, passed away Sunday at a Minot hospital.

Funeral services have been set for Friday, June 2nd, at 2 p.m. from the United Methodist Church of Donnybrook with Rev. Edwin Werner officiating. Mrs. Alexis Huff will be organist and Gail Huff, vocalist.

Serving as pallbearers will be Calvin Gregoire, Harvey Steinberger, James Lindquist, Gary Rasmusson, Gary Knudtson and Marlin (Slim) Myers.

Interment will made at Rosehill Memorial Cemetery, Minot, at 5 p.m. Following these services, relatives and friends are invited to the Wm. Coons home, rural Donnybrook.

Berdie Larson was born January 7, 1912, at rural Douglas, a daughter of Andrew and Gertrude Larson. She lived in that area until in her early 20's, when she came to the Donnybrook to work for several area families. She married Max Schlak at Kenmare in 1940, and they lived and farmed west of Donnybrook. Mr. Schlak died in 1948, and the family continued to reside in that area during the summers, but spending winters at Minot. She married Manuel Schwede in 1954 at Kenmare, and they lived and farmed west of Donnybrook. Mr. Schwede passed away in September, 1980, however, she continued to make her home on the farm.

Survivors include a son, Hillis Schlak of Walnut Creek, CA; a daughter, Mrs. William (Yolanda) Coons of rural Donnybrook; two grandchildren; six brothers, Albert Larson of Great Falls, Mt., Earl Larson of Port Orchard, WN, Danzle Larson of Portland, Ore., Arlo Larson of Mt. Lake Terrace, WN, Luvern Larson of Minot and Glenn Larson of Denver, Colo.; and three sisters, Mrs. Bertha Cleghorn, Mrs. Alva Trueblood and Miss Ethel Larson, all of Portland, Ore.

Reviewal will be Thursday from 3 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. until noon at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Kenmare.
