Born January 1, 1923, in Lee County, IA, she was the daughter of Louis and Clesta Derr Westermeyer. On May 3, 1942, she married John Fickel in Donnellson. He preceded her in death on April 16, 2003.
Flo worked for Sheaffer Pen Co. during war and was a homemaker, raising their two children.
She was a 1940 graduate of Argyle High School.
She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ and a member of Great River Friends. She was an avid golfer, scoring three hole-in-ones in her lifetime. She also loved playing bridge, poker, and rummy, knitting caps for newborns, bowling, and mushroom hunting. She enjoyed watching Iowa Hawkeye sports, St. Louis Cardinal baseball games, and horse races. She especially loved spending time with her family and friends.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, and five brothers.
