William Leonard Allen, age 89, of Fayette, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, March 12, 2008, at Fayette Long Term Care.

He was preceded in death by his grandson, Russell Allen; parents, William Lonzo Allen and Sarah Ethel White; two sisters; three brothers; and his wife of 53 years, the former Margaret Ella Canterbury.

Survivors include his daughter, Shirley Dailey of Fayette; son, Ray Allen of Atlanta, Ga.; two grandchildren, Alicia Glenn of Atlanta, Ga. and Johnathan Thomas of Fayette; one great grandchild, Ronin Glenn of Atlanta, Ga.; two brothers, Oliver Allen of Texas and Harold Allen of Tuscaloosa; and his sister, Jewel Abston of Oklahoma.

He was a member of Englewood Baptist Church, and a former member of Holt Baptist Church. He was a World War II Army veteran, retired employee of Gulf States Paper Corp., member of Von Bayer Lodge 699, and the Clara Blackman Chapter 167, Order of the Eastern Star.
