Funeral services for Oliver R. Allen, of Corinth, Texas, are 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 22, at Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel, with burial in Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Cemetery. Pastor Shawn Odell, of Corinth Baptist Church in Elrod, Ala., will be officiating.

Visitation is Monday from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Allen, 83, died Nov. 16, 2011, in Denton, Texas. He was born in Bibb County, Ala., on April 5, 1928, to William Lonzo Allen and Sarah Estell White Allen, of Bibb County.

He worked at St. Regis Paper in 1953 in Jacksonville, Fla. and retired as superintendent of the shipping and finishing department in Monticello. He was a member of the Masons, Shriners since 1964, and of the Eastern Star.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Survivors are his wife of 64 years, Gladys Brewer Allen; sons, Wayne Allen and wife, Gail, and James Michael Allen and wife, Melissa; sister, Jewel Abston, of Oklahoma; brother, Harold Allen and wife, Dean, of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; three grandchildren, Justin Allen, Richard Allen and Denise McMullin and husband, Marty; and sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Tommy Hannah, of Jacksonville, Fla.

Pallbearers will be Milton Duncan, David Eveningthunder, Phillip Hannah, Tommy Hannah, Rayburn Hannah, Marty McMullin and Ray Sullivan.
