Just before 1:00 am on Sunday July 27, 2014 Mary "Louise" Whittle, 81, of Denton passed away after living with Alzheimers for 12 years.

Louise was a proud member of the Mississippi Choctaw Indian Tribe. After graduating from Haskell Indian University, where she was crowned Indian Princess her senior year, she completed nursing school and obtained her RN degree. Her loving heart and healing hands was put to use good use in the ER and Pediatric units of Valley View Hospital in Ada, OK.

On September 5, 1959 she married Jerry Whittle of Madill, OK. They lived in Ada, OK prior to moving to Denton, TX. She enjoyed living in Denton, and although busy raising children, she stayed active in the community serving Meals on Wheels; was a member of Denton Benefit League, Ariel Club, Denton Women's Club, Christian Women's Club, and Southmont Baptist Church.

Louise loved to travel and was fortunate enough to travel with family and friends across the USA, abroad, and on trips with the Indian Nation. Her zest for life was versatile, from taking belly dancing (she loved any dancing), decoupage, painting, crafting, and shopping to reading.

God and family were first in her book of life. Not just her immediate family but the extended family of siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Her loving husband Jerry passed away on March 14, 2014 and will be meeting her at the gates of Heaven. Jerry and Louise would have celebrated their 55 wedding anniversary this year.

Louise will be lovingly remembered by her daughters & sons in law, Mitcha & Larry Woodson of Denton, Stacy Nelms of Dallas, and Shelly & Mark Messer of McKinney; sister, Elnora Fullerton age 92 of Ada, OK; 8 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Jerry Whittle; parents, Alberta "Bertie" & Harrison Billey; son, Mitchell Whittle; step-son, Jerry Vaughn Whittle; and sisters Myra Kifer, Ted Billey, and Linda Clark.
