STREATOR — Andrew J. Salata, 1101 Bronson st., died at 1:55 a.m. today in St. Mary's hospital following a lingering illness.

Son of Thomas and Helen (Pouk) Salata, he was born Oct. 24, 1916 in Streator. He never married.

Visitation will be in Solon funeral home after 4 p.m. Tuesday. The Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m.

Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in St. Stephen's church with a Requiem Mass. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Survivors include his mother, a brother, Thomas and three sisters, Mrs. Clem (Ann) Guyon, Mrs. Rudy (Helen) Gayon and Mrs. William (Mary Ann) Liptak, all of Streator.

He was preceded in death by two sisters in infancy and his father in 1951.

A resident of this area all of his life, he was formerly owner of a grocery store and was associated with his brother in Salata's tavern.

He was a member of St. Stephen's Lodge.

STREATOR — Funeral services for Andrew Salata, 1101 Bronson St., who died Monday in St. Mary's Hospital, were held Wednesday with a brief prayer service in Solon funeral home, followed at 11 a.m. by a requiem mass.

Rev. Peter Bolerasky of St. Stephen's church officiated the prayer service in the funeral home and Rev. George Hiland officiated at the Requiem Mass in St. Stephen's Church, Rev. Bolerasky conducted graveside services in St. Stephen's cemetery.

Pallbearers were nephews of the deceased: Richard Gayon, Robert Gayon, David Guyon, Kevin Liptak, Vern Christopher, and Fred Behrens.

Friends and relatives attended visitatin in Solon funeral home and services from East Chicago, Ind.; Hammond, Ind.; Pontiac, Joliet, Chicago, Mendota, Ottawa, Lacon, Wenona and the surrounding communities.
