PORTSMOUTH, Va. – Leonard Weston, father of internationally famous Ruth Brown, was scheduled to be buried in Lincoln Memorial cemetery Tuesday afternoon.

Mr. Weston, a well-known baritone choir and glee club singer, died at his mother’s residence last Friday morning. His daughter, who has become famous for her blues and rhythm singing, was in Portsmouth with a troupe of entertainers which played before two capacity houses at Norfolk’s Municipal Auditorium that night.

Funeral services for Mr. Weston were to be conducted at Emanuel AME Church, with the Rev. Walter L. Hildebrandt officiating. Wheeler’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Martha A. Weston; mother, Mrs. Ruth Weston; four sons, Benjamin, Leroy, Alvin and Leonard Weston Jr.; three daughters, Mrs. Ruth Brown, Mrs. Goldie Robinson and Miss Delia Mae Weston.

Also three brothers, George Weston, Portsmouth, and William and Stafford Weston, both of New York City; an aunt, Mrs. Annie Guest, and other relatives.
