Mr. Kennedy served in the Army during World War II. He was employed at Warner Gear for more than 37 years prior to his retirement. Mr. Kennedy was a member of AmVets, the VFW, the American Legion Post in Farmland, and the Warner Gear Sympathy Club.
Surviving are his daughter, Joyce A. Brower (husband-Brent), Muncie; his son, Robert L. Kennedy (wife-Linda), Washington, IL; five step-children, Sharon K. Williams (husband-Mike), Gaston, Larry Shores (wife-Sharon), Muncie, Diana White (husband-Toby), Muncie, Joyce Shores, Louisville, KY, and Wayne Shores, California; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Viola Shores Kennedy; his brother, Tillman Kennedy, Jr.; and his sister, Donzetta Cronin.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Parson Mortuary. Burial will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the Delaware County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday or an hour prior to the services on Wednesday at the mortuary. Memorials may be sent to the American Lung Association, 9445 Delegates Row, Indianapolis, IN 46240-3805.
