OBITUARY: Death of Old Soldier
James Winslow, a veteran of the war of the rebellion, died at 11:30 o'clock this forenoon, at the home of his brother Walter Winslow, at 609 West Laurel street. The deceased had been sick for several years and his death was not unexpected. His malady was lung trouble complicated with a weakness of his heart. He was about 63 years old and saw several years service on the southern battlefields. His record as a soldier was excellent, and his acts of bravery in the face of danger were many.
Mr. Winslow leaves a family of grown children, who reside in Northwestern Kansas.
The remains will be buried in the Crane cemetery west of town, and the funeral will probably occur Friday.
