Wendling, Barbara L.

On August 11, 2014, the Lord took my high school sweetheart away. Barbara L. (Christianson) Wendling went to her pain free eternal home surrounded by her loving family.

On July 3, 1969, Barbara married Chuck Wendling two weeks before he left for the Army. After a year in Vietnam they lived in Seattle, Washington before making their home in Collins where they raised three sons: Troy, Craig, and Brett.

Barbara is the daughter of Leona (Denk) Christianson and the late Leroy Christianson. Barbara was a 1967 graduate of Valders High School. She worked at the Register of Deeds in Manitowoc, was the Town Clerk and Treasurer of Rockland, and Secretary of Union Brass and Aluminum Foundry. Barbara was a member of St. Mary's Church in Clarks Mills and belonged to the Marion Council. Barbara and Chuck enjoyed being outside working with her love of flowers and Chuck's knack for landscaping. Baking and cooking for her family was one of her greatest joys along with celebrating any milestone or event by writing one of her very creative and famous poems. She spent many happy hours watching her children and most recently her grandchildren in all of their sporting events. Grandma was always their number one fan.

Barbara will be sadly missed by her husband Chuck of 45 years, three sons: Troy and Kim (Hanson) Wendling, Craig and Shelly (Braun) Wendling, Brett and Keri (Ratsch) Wendling, seven grandchildren: Brooke, Summer, Luke, Holly, Mason, Maddux, and Jack.

She is further survived by her mother, Leona Christianson, Manitowoc; four sisters and two brothers: Jeanne and John Wilson, Manitowoc; Carol and Jim Fisher, Oklahoma; June and Paul LaCroix, Manitowoc; Shari and Dan Carpenter, De Pere; Roy and Julie Christianson, Darboy; and Steven and Julie Christianson, Texas. She is also survived by four sisters-in-law: Terry and Richard Pederson, Valders; Mary and Daniel Benter, Collins; Joan and Lesley Zutz, Collins; Elaine and Bryan Imhoff, Manitowoc; one brother-in-law: Jimmy and Patsy Wendling, Brillion. She is further survived by many nieces, and nephews.

Barbara is preceded in death by her father, Leroy Christianson; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Glenroy and Elaine (Rabe) Wendling; a sister, Darlene; three nieces and one nephew: Tara Benter, Melissa (Pederson) Zipperer, Crystal Bradley, and Brian LaCroix.

Entombment will take place at Knollwood Mausoleum
