James F Rogers was born on December 20, 1880 in White County, Tennessee, the son of John Rogers and Mary Eliza (Franklin) Rogers (1843–1934).

He was married to Minnie Louise (Oeser) (Whittemore (1886–1948) on November 22, 1908 as her 2nd husband, and she was the daughter of Ernest Louie Oeser (1848–1897) and Harriett Olivia (Rieves) Oeser (1857–1943).

A retired farmer and resident of 1024 Pennock Avenue in Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee, he was 62 years old and married when he died of a paralytic stroke on July 23, 1943 in Nashville. Burial was the next day in Woodlawn Cemetery, Nashville.
