William moved to Nashville at a young age and owned and operated a produce stall in the Market House for a number of years.
William married Jennie Clark. To this union nine children were born, Mary Louise Rogers McCarver (1901), Gladys Rogers Hunter (1902), Annie Elizabeth and William Francis Rogers, Jr. (1904), Frances Rogers Witthoft (1905), Joe C. Rogers (1908), George C. Rogers (1911), Robert William "Buck" Rogers (1913) and William T. Rogers (1920). Five grandchildren.
