1913--1989

John S. Gayan, 76, of Rural Route 1, Manville, died at 11:25 p.m. Wednesday at Livingston Manor, rural Pontiac.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Winterrowd Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Long Point Cemetery.

Born Jan. 3, 1913, in Streator, he was the son of John and Ann (Soltis) Gayan. He married the former Retha Ogden on July 7, 1939, in Davenport, Iowa. She survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Patricia (Mrs. Victor) Benson of Rockford; a son, Robert J. Gayan, of rural Pontiac; five grandchildren, and a sister, Ann (Mrs. Bruce) Middleton, of Streator.

He was preceded in death by a brother; a half brother and two sisters.

A Cornell area resident for most of his life; he was formerly engaged in farming and owned a truck tarp repair business. A member of St. Stephen's Church, he was a past director of Cornell Grade School and a past member of Cornell Community Club.
