Topeka, IL - Raymond L. Messman, 72, of Rural Route 1 died at 6:34 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, 1994, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

Born Feb. 10, 1922, in rural Topeka to Herman G. and Mabel Golden (Atwater) Messman, he married Darlene Hackman on Oct. 5, 1946, in Manito. She survives.

Also surviving are four sons, Allen of Manito, Roger, Duane and John, all of Topeka; four sisters, Viola Morris of Cortez, Colo., Florence Noll of Topeka, Alta May Fornoff of Manito and Dorothy Garlisch of Forest City; and seven grandchildren.

Three brothers preceded him in death.

A member of Mason County Farm Bureau, he farmed in the Topeka area all his life. He also was assessor for Quiver Township for eight years. He also served as Quiver Township auditor.

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Havana, where he served two terms on the church council.

He was a member of and served on the ASC Committee.

Burial will be in Presbyterian Cemetery in Topeka.
