My great grandmother Brita Ersdotter Franck was born in Östra Stråsjö, Bjuråker, Hälsingland, Sweden. After being widowed, she sailed to the US with her 3 daughters, leaving her son, who was adopted and raised by his father's brother. Brita changed her name to Bertha Franklin in the New World. Her daughters were Karin (Carrie), Sigrid and Brita (Bessie - my grandmother).
