Barbara was a native of Germany. According to the 1900 Census she immigrated to the U.S. in 1869. The following year she married John Grimmer and he couple eventually settled in Louisville, Kentucky. They had at least five children: Anna, John, Hattie, Edgar and Marie. Annie died of a coronary occlusion at the age of 86.
