"Died: Allen "Coonskin" Miller, oldest settler in this parts of the county both in age and length of time. He homesteaded on his farm northwest of town in July 1870. He was known as "Coonskin Miller" from the nature of his headgear in the early days. Born 1813, he therefore was past ninety-five years of age. Survivors three sons, Abner, with whom he lived, Stephen and Frank. Burial in Fairview Cemetery with wife and daughter."
