Mrs. August Wachlin, 80, for more than 50 years a member of St. Paul Lutheran church and for the past 11 years a resident of Janesville, died at 750 p. m. Thursday in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Winfield Codman, 126 North Palm street, following several weeks' illness.

She was born in Germany, July 6, 1852 and April 12, 1880 came to America with her husband. They located in Edgerton, moving from there to a farm in Harmony. For many years they lived in Afton, coming to this city 11 years ago, residing at 909 North street until four years ago when Mr. Wachlin died. Since the death of her husband, Mrs. Wachlin had lived with her children.

She is survived by five children, Mrs. Winfield Codman, Janesville, Mrs. Bertha Karberg, Milwaukee, Mrs. Emma Miller, Mrs. Matilda Lemmon and Ervin Wachlin, all of Bettendorf, Ia.; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. One daughter and two sons preceded her in death. Other survivors are three sisters, Mmes. William Wachlin, Frank Albright, and Fred Schultz and one brother, August Luebke, all of Rock county.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Sunday in the Codman home, 126 North Palm street, and at 2:30 p. m. in St. Paul church, with the Rev. E. A. L. Treu to officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery.
