Betty Ann Sinex received her wings on May 31, 2016; she was 79 years old. Surrounded by loved ones, she gently passed on, and into rest in her beloved home after spending nearly 60 years in Townsend, DE.

She was born Betty Ann Coverdale to her parents, Samuel and Blanche Coverdale (Coleman) of Middletown, DE on October 22, 1936, the eldest of their six children.

As a young girl, she enjoyed school, learned to cook from her mother Blanche, grandmother Elsie Coleman, and aunt Elsie Wood. She had a best friend Lois Ann Jones and would ride the school bus with her and share funny stories and laugh.

At age seven, her father Samuel taught her to milk cows at their dairy farm on Boyds Corner Road in Middletown. She milked cows before and after school and did her chores. It was there she learned the art of taking care of a fully functioning farm and developed her strong work ethic. A drive, sense of pride, and goal-oriented determination she carried her entire life and instilled in her children and those surrounding her.

She was very good at and enjoyed playing basketball. As an older teenager she loved dancing. The Era was the 1950’s and dancing to the jitterbug and wearing beautiful frilly dresses was the norm.

As a young adult she traveled to Cuba on vacation with her aunt Elsie Wood (Coleman), and friend Margaret to explore and enjoy all Cuba had to offer. She recalled this vacation many times fondly sharing her ever present smile On June 30th 1956 in Elkton Maryland at the Little Chapel of love she married the love of her life James Harold Sinex of Townsend.

Betty was a graduate Middletown High School and received her license in cosmetology. After High School she worked for Acme, and at the textile facility in Middletown before pursuing her passion and opening Betty’s Beauty Shop.

She loved her customers and enjoyed her work tremendously. Laughter and pure joy could always be heard when you passed by her shop. Always there to help others, Betty was the go-to person for advice or just a good laugh.

Her hard work and dedication at such a young age shaped her into the woman who would move on to be a co-owner of Sinex Pools, a company she founded alongside her husband Jim Sinex. For almost 40 years Betty was known as the “Pool Lady” in Townsend.

A resident of Middletown until she married Jim, she took up residence in Townsend where they raised their two children. Betty was a member of Bethesda Methodist Church from birth and throughout her early years. As an adult, she became a member of Townsend Immanuel Methodist Church and was also involved in the Ladies Auxiliary in Townsend.

Most of the time, you would find her at Sinex Pools or in her beauty shop. She loved her customers and they loved her. The swimming pool company kept her very busy and you would always see her greeting customers, tending to her house, cooking, and working in her yard. Betty was a woman who thoroughly enjoyed her life and made sure to help others in the process.

Betty enjoyed spending time with her family and many friends she was very close with: (Aunt) Elsie Coleman Wood and friends Shirley Webb, Delores Budd, and Linda Lacinski-Thompson whom was like a sister. She had a special mother, daughter, friend relationship with Judith Sinex Blendt that lasted decades. She was also Momma B to many of her daughter's friends; Judith Faillace, Mary Ann Argoe, Stephanie Broadbent and many more. Betty was also known as “Miss Muff” to her adopted grandchildren, namely Caitlyn McNorton and Noah Broadbent. She enjoyed time with her best friend, Janet Ennis; one of their favorite pastimes was having coffee together every morning.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Beth Ann (fiance Walter J. Lacinski III), and her daughters, Monica and Arden Mlynarczyk, and Heather Oliva, her son, James (wife Becky) and his children, Jordan, Jaclyn, Jake and Brandon. She was a great-grandmother to many great grandchildren, she loved them all dearly.

Betty is survived by her sister Alice (Married to Dr. Whitfield Warmouth) of Milford, a brother Walter Coverdale of Bellefonte, Texas, and sister-in-law Arlene Robinson of Middletown.

Betty is predeceased by her husband, James Harold Sinex. They we're married 56 years when James passed January 2012 with Alzheimer's disease. She is pre deceased by her parents Samuel Coverdale, Blanche Coverdale (Coleman) sister Kathy Coverdale Burris, Richard Coverdale, and Lewis Coverdale.
