Horse Rears Suddenly Throwing Charles A. Pond, 72, To The Ground - Dies At Hospital Here
Charles A. Pond, 72, died last night of injuries received yesterday afternoon when he was thrown to the ground when a horse he was holding by a rope reared suddenly. The accident occurred in the Town of Harrison at the farm of Louis Pond, his nephew, with whom he made his home. He suffered a cerebral concussion and was taken to the Holy Cross hospital where he passed away last evening at six o'clock.
Mr. Pond, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Pond, was born September 8, 1871 in Brandon, Wis. He was a pioneer Lincoln County resident, having lived in the Town of Harrison for the past 60 years.
Surviving are a brother, Arthur Pond, Peshtigo, Wis., and a sister, Mrs. Nellie MacDonald, Fond du Lac.
Funeral services will be held Friday from the Co-Op funeral home at 2 p.m., the Rev. Edward A. George officiating. The body will lie in state at the funeral home from tomorrow at noon until the hour of services. Interment will be in the Merrill cemetery.
