Robert Edward Wittmann, age 86, of Chilton, died on Friday, January 4, 2013 at the Chilton Care Center in Chilton.

He was born September 10, 1926 in Appleton, son of the late Edward & Agnes (Wolf) Wittmann. Bob was a proud graduate of Brillion High School, class of 1944.

He farmed most of his life in the Town of Rantoul and also served as the Town Assessor for many years. Bob had additionally worked for Tecumseh in New Holstein for 10 years. He was a member of St. Martin Lutheran Church in Chilton where he served on the Envelope Committee and helped extensively with the addition to the building.

Being a jack of all trades, he was frequently called upon to help with projects big or small. Church knew he could be counted on for odds and ends around the building, his children could count on him for every project imaginable including fixing a torn wedding dress just minutes before the wedding began, and his grandchildren counted on him to bake delicious Christmas candy and cookies every December. Bob truly went out of his way to do everything he could for others.

Survivors include his children: Doreen (Alan) Wingers of Chilton, Lu Ann (William) Brandes of Brillion; a son-in-law: Donald (Doris) Reimer of Darboy; 5 grandchildren: Todd (Wendy) Wingers, Sheila Wingers, Melissa (Craig) Geiger, William Brandes and his fiancée Marsha Behnke, Casey (Melissa) Brandes; 5 great-grandchildren: Alison, Alesha, Kaylee, Kobe, & Jackson; a brother: Ronald (Shirley) Wittmann; and a sister-in-law: Grace Wittmann. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter: Kay Reimer; a grandson Scott Reimer; and a brother: Roland Wittmann.

Funeral service will be at 6:00 pm on Monday, January 7, 2013 at St. Martin Lutheran Church (717 Memorial Dr.) in Chilton with the Rev. Mark Wilkens officiating. Entombment will be in the Knollwood Mausoleum. Friends may call at the church from 3:30 pm until 5:45 pm on Monday, January 7, 2013.
