Steven Scott Wesbrook


Steven Scott Wesbrook, died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2014, at his home following a long courageous battle with cancer. He was 58.

The son of Clifford and Dolores Gagnier Wesbrook, Scott was born Jan. 21, 1956, in Yakima, Wash.

He grew up and received his education in Arkansas City, Kan., and Newkirk, graduating from Newkirk High School with the class of 1974.

He then attended Cowley County Community College in Arkansas City where he studied diesel mechanics. He received his master certification and then moved to Yakima, Wash.

In 1998, he returned to Newkirk and was employed with Pike Construction in Arkansas City and in August 2007 he began working with Butler Trucking Company in Newkirk.

Scott is survived by his wife, Kim, of the home; two sons, Chris Wesbrook and Jason Wesbrook and their families, of Washington State; his mother, Dolores Wesbrook, of Marshfield, Mo.;

his brothers and sisters-in-law, Kenneth and Kathy Wesbrook and Richard and Lesa Wesbrook, all of Arkansas City;

his sisters and brothers-in-law, Susan and Marcel Wheeler of Marshfield, Mo.; Virginia and Mike Seelen, of Nixa, Mo. and Margaret Wesbrook, of Marshfield and several nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clifford; and an infant sister, Mary.

Cremation has been effected. The family will host a memorial service  at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 5, at First United Methodist Church of Newkirk with the Rev. Bryan Tener officiating.

Another service will be held in his mothers home in Marshfield, Mo. 

Burial will take place at a later date in Parker Cemetery, Arkansas City. Miller-Stahl Funeral Service is assisting with local arrangements.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in his name to:
