MRS. BOUWKAMP RITES TUESDAY
Sioux Center Woman Succumbs After Long Illness
Mrs. C. Bouwkamp passed on at her home north of town Friday after an illness of three years with heart trouble and complications.
After the death of her husband in August last year, Mrs. Bouwkamp fulfilled a desire to visit her brothers and sisters and her childhood home in Grand Rapids.
She was given strength to make the trip and return home, and remained with her family many months before her death.
Emma Jansen, oldest daughter of Mrs. Wm. Bierma of Sioux Center, was born 53 years ago in Grand Rapids, Mich., where she grew to womanhood.
She was married there to C. Bouwkamp and soon after their marriage the couple came to Sioux Center vicinity to make their home, for some years having conducted a dairy on the H. Kiel farm north of town.
Surviving are five sons, Jay, John, William, Clarence and Lawrence, four of whom are at home; her mother, Mrs. Bierma; three sisters and three brothers, namely, Mrs. Tom Gordon, South Haven, Mich., Mrs. Webinga, Mrs. L.Veen, John Jansen, Jerry Jansen, all of Grand Rapids, and Bert Jansen of Sioux Center.
Funeral services were held at the home and at the First Christ. Ref. church Tuesday afternoon. Rev. Dykstra officiating.
Mrs. Bouwkamp was a devoted wife and mother and a kind neighbor. Her early passing is regretted by hundreds of friends, who sympathize with the family in their loss, especially the five sons bereaved of both parents with the passing of a year.
