OBITUARY Iron River Reporter March 15 1938 "Funeral Rites For Koslowski This Afternoon: Dies of Lung Ailment Friday: Longtime Resident"
STAMBAUGH – Funeral services will be held this afternoon for Adolph Koslowski who died at St. Vincent's hospital in Green Bay Friday [March 11] at the age of 60 years.
The body will be removed from the Stambaugh Funeral home this morning and funeral services will be held from the home 223 Fourth street, at 2 o'clock and from the St. Peter's Lutheran church at 2:30 with the Rev. George Teifel officiating.
Mr. Koslowski had been in failing health for several months and was taken to Green Bay a week ago by his brother Alex where he underwent an operation for congestion of the lung which was brought on by a cold.
His family was at his bedside at 7 o'clock Friday [March 11] evening when he passed away.
Mr. Koslowski was born in Russia, now Lithuania, February 17, 1878 and served four years in the Russian army as an officer. He came to Stambaugh in 1904 and was married November 7, 1905 to Minnie Simancik. He has been since that time a charter member of St. Peter's Lutheran church.
He worked as a blacksmith at the Dober mine for 12 years and later went into the blacksmith business in Iron River. In 1922 he moved to Milwaukee and remained for ten years returning to Stambaugh in 1932. Since that time he had worked as a blacksmith on the WPA until January 14, when the condition of his health forced him to discontinue work.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Clarence Horstman and Miss Marie Koslowski, of Milwaukee; one brother, Alex Koslowski, of Stambaugh, and one sister Mrs. Emilia Gromas, of Lithuania.
Pallbearers will be Edward Frank, Adolph Steinke, Fred Tinnerman, John Varda, Fred Dobat and William Heisel. Interment will be in Stambaugh cemetery.
