OAK GROVE, LA - Funeral services for Christopher Columbus "Chris" Self, age 72, of Oak Grove, Louisiana will be 2:00PM, Saturday, August 15, 2009, at the First United Pentecostal Church of Oak Grove with Rev. Terry Jordan officiating.
Interment will be in the Red Wing Cemetery near Oak Grove. Services are under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Oak Grove.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jehu Traver Self and Bertha Lee Moore Self; daughter-in-law, Tammy Self; 2 brothers, Jehu Self and John Edwards Self; 3 sisters, Gertrude Powell, Travis Powell, and Gladys De Ramus.
Chris is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carolyn Fay Self of Oak Grove, Louisiana; son and daughter-in-law, Chris Self Jr. and Gail Self of Atlanta, Georgia; son, Anthony Dewayne Self of Lafayette, Louisiana; daughter, Cynthia Elaine Wease of Oak Grove, Louisiana; daughter, Wanda Rene Bearden of Bastrop, Louisiana; 5 brothers, Curtis Self and Gethern Self, both of Pioneer, Louisiana, T.C. Self of West Monroe, Louisiana, Curvin Self of Ringgold, Louisiana, Sanford Self of Monroe, Louisiana; 1 sister, Beatrice Brister of West Monroe, Louisiana; 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
