Son of Samuel Mann. Husband of Rhoda Howard.

This is the William Mann, that I can prove we are descended from, back from there is thru my research and who I think we are descended from a, Samuel Mann.

William & Rhoda were living in Breathitt County in 1840, living on Quicksand Creek at Springfork, and raised ten children on this property. William listed land in Breathitt county in 1849, and he also listed property in Floyd county (on Licking Creek) in 1849 on the Tax List. This is the first time he has listed land in Floyd county for the tax list. This could be land that he inherited from his father.

William & Rhoda were not living when the 1900 Breathitt county census was taken, probably died between censuses (1880-1900). I understand they could be buried in an unmarked grave in the Mann Cemetery on Hawes Fork, which is located by taking the Springfork road, turn left and go about one mile. Old cemetery is up on a knoll at the mouth of Bettsmann Creek.

William Mann was a farmer and was a good provider for his family. On the tax list, he owned land and raised crops, animals and had personal property.

1880 Breathitt County census; William says his father and mother were born in Virginia.

**Why I think William's father is Samuel Mann of Floyd County. Samuel was the only one that listed a male child in 1810 Floyd County Ky census, under 10 years of age. In 1849 William paid taxes on property in Floyd County on Licking River. I think he inherited this from Samuel Mann, his father. Samuel had other sons that were born after William to another wife (Preshi Dykes) of Samuel Mann. William Mann's mother is unknown and was born in Virginia.
