Eva Welk, 96, of Aberdeen, S.D., passed away Friday, March 10, 2006, at Avera Mother Joseph Manor, Aberdeen.
Eva was born Dec. 24, 1909, to Ludwig and Christina (Schwan) Welk in Strasburg. She grew up in Strasburg and then took care of her parents.
She moved to Aberdeen in 1940, where she worked in home health care. She has resided at Avera Mother Joseph Manor since November of 1995.
Eva enjoyed reading, baking, tatting, listening to music and playing bridge.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Barbara, Anna Mary and Agatha, and four brothers, John, Mike, Louie and Lawrence.
Surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial for Eva Welk, 96, Aberdeen was held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 13, 2006, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Edward Pierce officiating. Lectors were James Kaiser and Jason Welk. Organist was Kathy O'Brien. Cantor was Carol Johnson. Usher was Walter Blossey.
Pallbearers were Jason Welk, James Kaiser, Jim Schwab and Larry Schwab.
Burial followed at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery with Schriver's Memorial Mortuary & Crematory, Aberdeen, in charge of arrangements.
