She taught English and Journalism at Ionia HIgh School for many years, retiring in 1971. She was the advisor for "The Spotlight" which was the IHS "newspaper." The school newspaper was unique as it was printed as a full page every Saturday in The Ionia Sentinel-Standard. Her students consistently won awards for the publication from the Michigan Interscholastic Press Association.
She was advisor for the the school's yearbook, "The Ionian," which also received a number of awards.
