POWERS-BANKS: There were in Hingham in 1638 four Thomas Lincolns and others of the name. To distinguish they are known as Thomas the miller, Thomas the farmer, Thomas the cooper, and Thomas the weaver.PG 168
POWERS-BANKS ANCESTRY pg 167: from Taunton Deeds, 3, p 77: 4 January 1694, Peter Branch of Preston, Conn., sold land in Taunton “that belonged to my wife Hannah Lincoln, daughter of Thomas Lincoln, of Taunton, Mass.” (Bristol Co Deeds 3:79) Hannah’s father was the miller of Taunton, Massachusetts. Her grandfather, Thomas Lincoln, also the miller, came from Hingham, England, to Hingham, Massachusetts, about 1636, and his mill at Taunton, Massachusetts, was used as a place of meeting for the conference with King Philip before the war.

Mary's husband was named Thomas Lincoln, but her husband was born, probably in England before 1630. He was baptized as a child in Hingham Feb. 1637-38 by Rev. Peter Hobart. He died before 5 November 1696 in Taunton.
He was deceased by 05 November 1696 when Peter Branch of Preston, Connecticut sold land in Taunton, Bristol, Province of Massachusetts Bay to Nicholas Moorey of Taunton. The land had been received by Branch's wife Hannah as a gift from her father Thomas Lincoln, by deed of gift dated 04 May 1694 "given to Hannah my wife by her father Thomas Linkon dec'd". ( Bristol County Deeds 3:79).

DESC. OF PETER BRANCH said Hannah LINCOLN-- was the aunt of Abe Lincoln. After much research on Abe Lincoln's genealogy, it appears much more distant than that.

Hannah the daughter of Thomas Lincoln and Mary Austin (1632-1694).

1699, April 3: The wife of Peter Branch was admitted to membership in the Preston Congregational Church.
