Dr. Dowe Peterson Lamb Carter
Dr. Dowe Peterson Lamb Carter, daughter of the late Albert and Mary Julia
Peterson, died Sunday, September 14th,2014, after a brief Illness.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, September 20th, at 11 AM in the
Wadley Cemetery with the Rev. Tom Harrison officiating.
Dowe was preceded in death by: her parents; her daughter, Nancy Bufort
Lamb; and her brother, Albert Eugene Peterson, Jr. She is survived by her
son: Albert Pound Lamb (Elizabeth) of Nashville. TN; and two
grandchildren: Clay Peterson Lamb and Anna Elizabeth Lamb. Clay and
Anna had become the focal point of her life. They loved their "Dowe".
Other survivors include: her sister-in-law, Mrs. Tonya Peterson Myers of
Colorado; two nieces, Mrs. Erin Peterson (great niece and nephew- Lydia
and Noah Rose) of Colorado and Mrs. Kristin Lambert (Andy) of Kentucky.
Dowe's legacy is the many students she came into contact with throughout
the world from Reykjavik to Heidelberg. She received her undergraduate
and PHD in Chemistry from UGA. She also attended LSU, MIT and the
University of Wisconsin working on secondary degrees. Her teaching
career began at Wadley High School in 1956. She taught for 20 plus years
at Georgia Southwestern in Americus, GA. After retirement, Dowe taught
for 11 years through the University of Maryland in many locations.
Two of her many interests were: researching family history and helping fill
the Bartow Museum with wonderful artifacts in Bartow, GA

Church of Americus, 221 S. Lee St. Americus, GA 31709; in Wadley,
donations may be made to Wadley Baptist Church, P. O. Box 759, Wadley,
GA 30477.
