Kathrine Berry Walker passed away on the morning of Friday, March 10, 2006, morning at her home in Wolf Creek after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 77.
A memorial service will be held at the Community Christian Church in Wolf Creek at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 15, with visitation prior to the service followed by a gathering at the family home 1510 Beartooth Road on Holter Lake. Burial services will be on Monday March 20, at Washelli Funeral Home and Cemetery.
Kathrine was born on Sept. 30, 1928, in Oroville, Wash., to Frank and Anna Kammers. She was raised on the family's apple orchard near Lake Osoyoas along with two brothers and an older sister. She graduated from Oroville High School in 1945.
Soon thereafter she married James Berry of Ballard, Wash., on Jan. 13, 1949. They resided in the Seattle area where after a short career with the Seattle City Light, together they founded and built a successful drywall company where she was the bookkeeper and secretary for many years.
They were happily married for 46 years until his death on April 5, 1995.
Kathrine was an accomplished golfer. She enjoyed spending time with her family camping, fishing and boating. She also enjoyed sewing, traveling and volunteering with her local PTA, Camp Fire Girls and Boy Scouts. She collected western art and was a talented artist.
On July 2, 1998, Kathrine married Robert (Dutch) Walker whom she spent time with when she visited Wolf Creek. They spent seven and a half years together and shared a residence in Yuma, Ariz.
Survivors include a daughter, Diane, of Ulm; a son, Mark (Melinda), of Ulm; a brother, Pete Kammers, of Spokane, Wash.; sister, Ruth Weller, of Beaverton, Ore.; husband, Dutch, of Wolf Creek; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, and older brother, Robert Kammers, and first husband, James Berry, of Seattle.
Memorials can be made to the Wolf Creek Volunteer Fire Department. Helena Funeral Chapel has completed the arrangements.
