MILLBROOK - Maris Van Alen, 74, of Millbrook died on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at her residence after a long illness. Born in Bryn Mawr, Pa. On August 31, 1939, she was the daughter of the late George Ingles MacLeod and Elizabeth McMillan. On July 23, 1966 in Bryn Mawr,Pa. She married James L. Van Alen. Mr. Van Alen predeceased her on March 1, 2008. Maris was a graduate of Vassar College, Class of 1997. She is survived by her loving children; Elizabeth Van Alen Manigault of Charleston,SC and James G. Van Alen and his wife Meghan, also of Charleston,SC; her dear grandchildren, India and Gigi Manigault and Langley and Eloise Van Alen, all of Charleston,SC; and her sister, Helen MacLeod Elkins of Coatesville,Pa. A Memorial Service will be held 11 am Tuesday, September 2 at Grace Episcopal Church, Franklin Ave., Millbrook.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Grace Episcopal Church or Scenic Hudson.Arrangements have been entrusted to Allen Funeral Home, Millbrook.
