Antwine Leander (Tony) Caya, 69, a longtime resident of Lynxville died Tuesday, May 30, 1967 after an illness in a Prairie du Chien hospital.
Antwine was born in Lynxville July 13, 1896 to Riley Mitchell and Nellie Mildred (Vanderbilt) Caya.
"Tony was a retired commercial fisherman, who served on the County Conservation committees, promoting a new image of cooperation between the commercial fisherman and sportsfisherman. He was a leader in having fish study work on the Mississippi River. He also served on the village board for several years."
Antwine married Hilda Bachem and together they had 2 daughters; Betty (Robert) Hagensick and Jeanette (Lawrence) Becwar. She passed away and later he married Blanche Wacouta.
He was survived by his wife and his daughters. He was also survived by his mother and seven brothers; Hugh, Clifford, Edward, Claude, Clinton, Allen and Lyle Caya and three sisters; Mabel (Peter) Orazem, Margaret (Ivan) Thompson and Norma (John) White.
