Martin R. Karchner Sr. 57, of Susquehanna Blvd. West Hazleton died at 5:15 pm yesterday at Hazleton State Hospital where he had been a patient for the past ten days.

Born in West Hazleton November 19, 1897 he was the son of the late Elmer and Martha Thrash Karchner.

He was a member of Christ Memorial Evangelical and Reformed Church of West Hazleton and a veteran of WW I having served in France. His wife Florence Miller Karchner died in 1951. He is survived by the following children; Ellsworth of West Hazleton, Martin Karchner Jr. of Sugarloaf, Mrs. John Yanick, Mrs. Herman Holland Jr. and Mrs. Leonard Zazucki, all of West Hazleton and the following brothers and sisters; Ellsworth F. Conyngham, Walter C. Karchner Sr. of West Hazleton, and Mrs. Irene Stewart of Weatherly. Also nine grandchildren and his step father GEORGE KROMIS of
Drums and a step brother Leroy Kromis of West Hazleton.
