Newscaster. Born in Portland Oregon, he began his career as a war correspondent in World War II and Korea. After his war service, he settled in the Los Angeles area and became a respected TV news reporter for CBS television news in Hollywood. He also carried his broadcasting expertise on to the big screen appearing in films such as "The Swinger" (1966), "The Todd Killings" (1971), "Big Wednesday" (1978), "The Jerk" (1979) and "Testament" (1983). He is best remembered for his many roles on television to include "Columbo", "McCloud", "M*A*S*H", "Police Story" and "Simon & Simon" He died at age 72 in Los Angeles, California.
