Auburn Father of 13 Dies at Age of 55

ALMON ORREN BROWN of near Auburn, father of 13 children, died at the age of 55 at 8 am Saturday in the Norman Beatty Hospital in Westville after a four year illness. He had been hospitalized since Jan 30, 1969.

He was born in Auburn on Sept 22, 1913 to Lawrence H and Mildred Likens Brown. In 1936 he married Jessie Keester, but the couple was divorced at the time of Mr Brown's death. Mr Brown was a carpenter and roofer. He had lived on Rt 2 Auburn for 17 years.

Surviving in addition to the parents at 730 Colgrove Waterloo are five sons, Alvin, Jack and Jerry of Auburn, Robert and Joseph both serving; sisters Sally Farmer, Betty Lou Watson, Mary Ann McNamara, all of Auburn and Patty , Cindy, Kathy, Joyce and JoAnn Brown all of Union Street Auburn. Also surviving are five brothers, Harold of Rt 1 Auburn, J Edward of Waterloo, Elson H of 613 East Seventh Street Auburn, Lawrence E of Waterloo and Lee R of Waterloo; two sister, Ruth Johnson of Hammond and Marybelle Haiflich of Rt 2 Auburn, and 11 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 pm Monday in the Graffis Funeral Home at Waterloo with the Rev Everett Haines pastor of the Waterloo United Methodist Church officiated. Burial was in the Knights of Pythias Cemetery at St Joe.
