Margaret Walls Hamilton was the daughter of Watlington Walls, Sr. and Mary Polly Hickman. She was one of 9 children and all appear to have been born in Jefferson and Hamilton Counties, Tennessee. Margaret was married to Meredith A. Hamilton 17 Aug 1854. Meredith appears to have died prior to 1870. He has not appeared in any census data from 1870 forward and ancestry records indicate that he died about 1861, Missouri. During their brief marriage census data and other records indicate they bore 4 children and are as follows:

After the death of her husband, Margaret moved to Texas (1880 Federal Census - lines 6-8, items 2-2, page 1) with her son and wife, Daniel Boone Hamilton and Lee Annie McCurdy-Hamilton. They were living in close proximity to two other daughters and her brother. Taken from the 1880 Federal Census, they were as follows:
