JERSEYVILLE – Jersey county relatives of John Lurton, former resident of this vicinity, received word Tuesday of his death which occurred Dec. 1 at Hayward Calif. He was 70 years old. Funeral services were held at the residence in Hayward, Friday, Dec. 4, and the interment was in a mausoleum in that city.

He was born near Newbern. He was educated in the schools of Jersey county and received is higher education at the Illinois State Normal and Wesleyan University at Bloomington. He taught school in Jersey county and later conducted a livery business in Jerseyville.
