Sue D. Patton, 98, of New Castle, passed away the evening of May 17, 2014 at her daughter's residence in New Castle.

Born June 7, 1915 in Wurtemburg, PA, she was the daughter of Ambrose and Myrtle Smith Adams. Sue married James W. Patton on June 15, 1933. He passed away January 9, 1984.

She was a self employed hairdresser for 57 years, owning Sue's Beauty Shop. Sue enjoyed gardening, canning, and crocheting. She was the oldest member of First Alliance Church, and a member of the Cecelia Lewis Bible Class for over 50 years.

Survivors include three daughters and a son-in-law, Ruth Ann Mack of New Castle, Carol Sue and Don Bolinger of New Castle, and Judy Patton of Richmond, VA; three sons and daughters-in-law, James W. Patton III and his wife, Betty, of Harlansburg, David L. and Judy Patton, of New Castle, and Thomas J. and Linda Patton of Alexandria, VA; one brother, William John "Jack" Adams of Florida; two sisters, Olive Hemminger, and Dolly Bovard, both of New Castle; 15 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 16 great great grandchildren; and one great great great grandchild.

In addition to her parents and husband, Sue was preceded in death by six sisters, Bertha Filer, Lauretta Roberts, Wilna Owens, Nancy Adams, Nellie Constance, and Doris Rigby; three brothers, Charles Adams, Robert Adams, and Cameron Adams; one grandson, James Patton IV; and one great granddaughter, Andrea Barton.

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 20, 2014, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.

A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at 11 a.m. at First Alliance Church, 111 Mission Meade Dr., New Castle. The Rev. Philip Harrison will officiate.

Entombment will be at Castle View Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made to First Alliance Church, 111 Mission Meade Dr., New Castle, PA 16105.
