Brother Joseph Barzantni OSB., died at the Marmion Abbey infirmary after a protracted period of lung cancer aged 78. Serving the Abbey and Academy in a variety of roles over the years, for years he was the monastic tailor as of the 1960's. He was also in charge of the uniform store, first at the Academy Butterfield Campus and then after the merger of the day and resident schools in the early 1970's. An early riser, he would help with opening the doors of the school before the days of security systems.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at the Abbey church on Wednesday, January 11, 2012, at 10.30 am., followed by burial in the Abbey Cemetery.
