CLYDE WARD BARNES
June 9, 1921 ~ October 5, 2014

Clyde Barnes, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, passed away at age 93, on October 5, 2014. Clyde was born to Hiram and Esther Barnes, in Ridgefield, Washington.

He graduated from Ridgefield High School in Ridgefield, Washington in 1938. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. His tour of duties were on the U.S.S. Salamonie in both the Atlantic and Pacific.

He married Betty in 1946 and they celebrated 68 years of marriage. Clyde worked at Reynolds Aluminum for 27 years, retiring in 1986. All of Clyde's time after retirement was spent helping others, either in the family or missionary work in Mexico.

Clyde is survived by his wife, Betty; son, Rod (Janet) Barnes; daughters, Pam (Larry) Bush, Sheila (Doug) Hayes, Tami Briggs and Kelli Dubay. Also survived by 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Pete O'Brian, Hiram Barnes, Fred Barnes, Walter Barnes; and sisters, Beaulah Rathbun and Helen Eggleston.

The family wants to thank Elite Care and its wonderful staff for the loving, compassionate care given to Clyde.

Dad, it wasn't long enough, but thank you for all the wonderful years. You have set the ultimate example of what a good man is. Your example will be passed on for generations. We all love you so much.

There was a service at the Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon on October 15, 2014. All were welcome to attend. There also was a Celebration of Life gathering of family and friends at a later date.
