lenn "Gene" Horton, 84, of Washington, Indiana, formerly of Lorain, Ohio, passed away at 4:50 a.m., Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at his residence.
He was born May 20, 1930 in Lorain, OH, to Glenn A. and Mildred (Ernst) Horton.
He married Frances "Jerry" Cason on September 13, 1976 in Avon, OH.
Gene was a retired heavy-truck parts manager for Ford Motor Company in Cleveland, OH.
He served as a volunteer firefighter for 26 years. Being a member of the volunteer fire department brought Gene more pleasure than any job he ever had.
Gene lived in Ohio for the majority of his life until moving to Indiana after his retirement.
He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying both animals and nature.
He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War and was a fireman on Parris Island, SC.
Gene was preceded in death by: his first wife, Charlotte Mitchell; and his sister and brother-in-law, Joan (Tony) Kudela.
