Maurice Helterline, driver of the Eastbound car, said that Mrs. Kangas had started across the road, saw the car approaching around a curve, and then turned back into its path.
Mrs. Kangas was evidently walking home from Paradise when the accident occurred about 1:30 in the afternoon.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at the First Lutheran Church in Plains with the Reverend Ronald Paulson officiating.
Mrs. Kangas was born October 9, 1914 in Alberton. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Carol May Smith of Missoula and Mrs. Lorraine Kay of Superior; her father, L. P. Holden of Missoula; five sisters, Mrs. Roy Schwartz of Milltown, Mrs. Robert Healy and Mrs. Joseph Sherick of Spokane; Mrs. Dean Baird, Plains; and Mrs. Glen Lamb of Missoula.
Three brothers, Patrick Holden of Missoula; Charles Holden of Great Falls and Lawrence Holden of Superior, and eight grandchildren.
