Mr. Bowers was a conductor with the PRR, Pittsburg Division, retiring in 1953 after more than 40 years of service. He was a member of Bellwood and Tyrone Blazing Hook and Arrow Fire Company, and Tipton Volunteer Fire Company.

Good news came to a number of Bellwood men, furloughed employes of the Pennsylvania Railroad company, that their services were again in demand and that they were to report for duty in Baltimore, where they will be assigned to work on the electrification of the Washington division. These employes have been out of the service for the past two years and some for a longer period. The following men left Wednesday afternoon for Baltimore to again employees of the company: Fred Troxell, Luther Haggerty, Fred Harpster, R. V. Caldwell, I* H. McCaulley, Allen Campbell, Walter Hinton, Howard Frye, Gerald Briggs, Sheldon Reigh, James Biggins, Howard Markley, William Hopkins, Giles Troxell, Daniel Bowers, and others, names of whom we were unable to obtain.
