Deborah Ashley Wilson, age 66, of Belton passed away on Friday, October 17, 2014, at the Rainey Hospice House with her loving family at her side. Born on September 4, 1948, in Abbeville County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Carlton “Doc” Ashley and the late Mary Ashley. She was the wife of the late Jerry A. Wilson until his death in 2011.
Debbie was a graduate of Honea Path High School and attended Anderson College. She is known by many as a baton twirler, as she taught many young people in the area over the years. Mrs. Wilson was a member of Bethany Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Carla W. Powell and husband, Jack, of Anderson; 2 grandchildren, Matthew and Ryan Powell, both of Anderson, and a brother-in-law, Harold E. Simpson of Honea Path. In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Ashley and 2 sisters, Lucius Bannister and Maggie Simpson.
The Funeral Service to honor and celebrate the life of Debbie Wilson will be held on Sunday, October 19, 2014, at 3 p.m. at Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Edmonds and Rev. Carroll Plemmons officiating. Interment will follow at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will be at the home of Carla and Jack Powell, 220 Woodvalley Drive, Anderson, and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Saturday, October 18, 2014, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
